Stop Nail Biting! 5 Tips to Crush This Bad Habit

Stop nail biting by using these 5 tips to crush the habit. Don't you know that biting your nails could cause an infection or even worse give you permanent nail damage? I know it's a hard habit to break that's why I'm going to show you five different ways to tackle the problem.

Anti-Nail Biting Polish

The first method is by using an anti-nail biting polish you can find these products at your local drugstore. Many different brands carry them in their line. There is a clear treatment that you put over your nails every few days.

The reason that this work is because they have a bad taste if you choose to put your nails in your mouth especially when you do it unconsciously. You'll be immediately reminded to take them out by the bad taste, and trust me you'll want to keep your nails out of your mouth because these polishes taste pretty gross.

Fake Nails

Another way to help stop biting your nails is by using fake nails over your natural nails. Try the press-on kind as they're gentler on your nails and easy to remove just peel off the backing and press them firmly over your nails.

These will help protect your natural nails because they're covering them so you won't be tempted to bite them and they will grow naturally without you trimming them with your teeth.

Cuticle Cutter

Another way to avoid biting your nails is by bringing a cuticle cutter around with you in your bag. A lot of the time people begin biting their nails because there are an annoying hangnail and your picking at it and then you end up biting it off and it just escalates.

So if you have a cuticle cutter on hand then you can use that instead to remove the pesky hangnail safely and if you don't haven't got a cuticle cutter you could always just carry a small nail clipper around with you instead.

Nail Art

The fourth way is by using nail art, having a pretty and new manicure will keep you from wanting to bite them because you won't want to ruin the work you've put into the nail art, or how nice they look and may tempt you no to start chewing them.

The last way is by tackling the problem at its root cause, ornament and anxiety are the two main nail-biting culprits for most people. They are either trying to keep their body busy by biting their nails and also as a way to ease their anxiety.

Keeping Hands Busy

If you believe you bite your nails because you're bored, try keeping your hands busy in those situations. For example, you could always have a coin in your pocket and when you see that you're biting your nails stop and play with the coin or even a fidget spinner instead. Or if you're bored in class try writing and taking notes on a notepad this will keep your hands and your mind busy not to mention get you better grades.

Meditation

If it's anxiety that's bugging you to try meditating every day to clear your mind and control your thoughts and worries. Exercise is another great way to combat stress and anxiety, get active doing something you enjoy. And there you have it, five different ways to break the bad habit of nail-biting.
